T-Max 4.4 to 4.5 upgrade alert
Relative to my other post https://www.hdforums.com/m_2290160/tm.htm regarding a problem I was having with my T-Max, when I was talking to Randy at T-Max/Zippers, and he mentioned he noticed I had upgraded my ECM to firmware version 4.5. He said to make sure when I upgraded the one they are sending (they still ship with 4.4) to follow this procedure:
1. Make sure ECM fuse is out
2. Install ECM
3. Reinstall fuse
4. Hook to PC
5. Upgrade ECM to 4.5
6. Unlink, poweroff bike
7. Remove ECM fuse for ~30 secs.
8. Reinstall fuse
9. Turn on ignition
10. Relink to ECM
11. Write map (preferably a clean one you have not fussed with for the first shot)
12. Go through IAC cycle process
13. Good to go
He emphasized the importance of powering off the bike and the fuse pull/install and the clean map to make sure there wasn't any funny stuff transferred from the old map I had used on my bad ECM. Now while this wouldn't necessarily be the case in someone upgrading a good ECM, I think it may be a safe play to at least do the whole ECM/fuse bit anytime you upgrade (he agreed).
