Is there any way to tell if my ecm has had a stage 1 upgrade? It will rev over 6gs but is this from the PCiiir or the ecm? I did seach but couldn't get a answer I was looking for.
The PC will allow the rev limiter to change so that could be handling it. You might be able to tell if the ECM has been flashed with someone else's SERT. It is my understanding that while you can't program with a used SERT you can read the VIN, ECM PN and the CAL ID with the software. I am not sure what the base CAL is that gets loaded into the unit, but if you know someone who has a stock bike and compare yours to that you might be able to see if there is a difference.
However it might just be easier to to remove the PCIII for a short moment and see if the REV still goes beyond 6000. If you have the PCIII software (you can download it), you can retrieve the map that is on it. I do not believe that the rev setting is in the map, rather it is a setting on your PC that gets uploaded into the unit; so you wont be able to retrieve that back off of the unit one way or the other.
If none of this makes sense, then you might be better off letting a dealer check it for you.
