Does the sert allow me to read back all of the info that is programmed into the ecm and save it? I have read the manual and it doesn't look like this is possible. Am I missing something? I would like to be able to save the setup that is programmed into the ecm (the way it came from HD when built) before I download another into it. It looks like I can read what the name of the file is that was programmed into the ecm. If not, can I get the "original equipment" download from Harley?
Unlike the Power Commander we can not GET what is in the ECM...we can only over write it. The Engineers at the MoCo can retrieve what is in the ECM but I haven't figuredthat out yet and probably won't.
You can have the dealer down load the stock map back in your ECM with the Digital Tech but you can't save it astuning file....the dealer will charge you $100.00~150.00 to load the ECM back to stock.

The PCIII is a piggy back system and will not allow you to read the ecm. The above may be missunderstood by some.
With the SERT you cannot read what is in the ecm, you can however save the maps and settingsthat YOU program in. It is also possible to hook up a laptop go for a ride and record the data to see how its performing.
Thanks for the info, I don't really have a great need to save what is in the ecm right now. I just thought it would be a good idea to do so before downloading something else into it. Right now I have a Vance and Hines FuelPak hooked up and the bike runs fine...but I cannot ever leave well enough alone so I bought the sert so I could do a little seat of the pants tuning myself. I have not hooked it up to the bike yet, have just been reading the manual alot.
If you only have a stock map, why worry. Worst case is that you upload a stage 1. At least the bike will run cooler. Once the SERT is married to your bike it will always show up as being a SERT bike.
