JRK5892,
Did you have any quality issues with the chrome? I bought a set off eBay from American Classic Motors and the chrome is pretty bad, also has ripples in the base metal. I installed them with separate Schrader valves andone wouldn't hold air for more then two days, and the other one would not take any air, almost seems like the port inside the top of the shock wasn't drilled all the way thru. They sent out another set and the chrome is worse then the first set. If you didn't have any issues with the chrome, where did you buy them?
I wouldn't mess around with those chrome chineese knock offs. Actual Electraglide shocks are very reasonably priced and work great.Look for a set with all the hardware and just bolt em up and go.You should be able to find a decent set of used Electraglide shocks for around $50 plus shipping, the low profile ones will run a bit more.I liked mine allot but they just didn't look right once I chopped my fender and I didn't want to go the whole lowering block route.
No telling what American Classic tried to sell you. They tried selling me Sporty 412's , after installing them and finding out they were not the correct ones, the idiot I spoke with seemed to discount gravity and spring rates, saying"Well, if there are different shocks, why does Drag Specialties only list one part number". Come on now, how can the shocks be the same for two totally different weight bikes. No kidding, that was his lame azz excuse. I did finally get my refund, full refund no 'restock' fees. However they left back feeback to my excellent record. I'm still fighting with eBay over that one. American Classic Motors is a scam outfit.
They look like there identical to the Harley low profile shocks,......Like they came from the same manufacture.
Hmm, you may be right I'm just going by what I've read on this forum. Most of us that have used the standard Electraglide shocks, used, straight off an Eglide have not had any problems. While all the issues with chrome and funky air valves have been the aftermarket lowering shocks they're selling on Ebay.It would be interesting to hear if some one using the Harley 12" lowering shocks is having any problems.
