Just curious, if you live in NC and you do notwear a DOT certified helmet, but another type helmets do you plan on changing to conform to the new helmet law. If you already wear a DOT Certified no need inreplying. I would just like to get an Ideal from those who dont but will change or not. Thanks
I guess it is. Our fathers fought for a Freedom of our country we live in, I would hate to think they foughtand died only to let future leaders take away our freedom. I think back to what my mother used to say "I`m only giving you good advise you can use it or throw it in thetrash". The law makers are making laws for me and you without my or Your Opinion!! Next they will be telling us we have to wear RED & White Shirts with flashing white lights. They ( the people looking out for us) say 40 percent more lives would be saved with DOT helmets, but they did not say out of all the accidents how many were in excessive speed, drunk, doing wheelies @ 30 mph + and whatever other stupid idiotic stunt can be done on a bike and get killed. Dont get me wrong all I`m saying is they are basing a dot on is percentages, not how they arrived at those percentages. I would like to know how many riders have been killed minding their on business not wearing a DOT helmet!! I know it happens but what are the percentages on thoses riders? I could go on and on but it useless, let me sum it up this way I think I have a right to wear what I want. I know the consequences when I ride, the same as when I get into my cager. I might not make it back...
Don't know if mine is DOT cert. or not. Its got some stickers on it that are half peeled away from use(the one that says "I've fallen and can't reach my beer" I really like).Gotsome scratches too.Chin strap is about frazzled and frayed, but I like how the threadsfly aroundat speed. The inside lining sometimessmells likethe most used, unwashedbath towel hangingat the shower. I just shake a little baking sodain itwhenI begin to smell it at 55mph.It rattles sometimes but so does my brain. I figureit stillhas a few miles in it, so I'm gonna keep strapping it on my semi-bald gordIguess and notthink muchabout it until I'm forced at gun point.[8D]
OK. I fully agree that we should have the right to choose. I guess where we differ is that if you are going to put something on your head, why not at least use something that will protect. It's not like there aren't dot helmets out there that offer the same light and small feeling as non-dot.
Not arguing, I just find it interesting. If I was going to protest, I just wouldn't wear a helmet.
Not wearing a helmet is not the only way to protest. There are other forums of protesting. I just feel like I should be allowed to wear whatever I choose. Its hard to put it in words but if I have to wear a helmet I like wearing one thats somewhat not like wearing one. Not wearing a helmet at all is a big attention getter and fast money outta a pocket that wants to keep all it can... SC is a state that allows a rider to choose if he or she wants to wear a helmet. Why cant we choose, if a rider wants to wear a helmet so be it. Guess I`ll find out how its gonna be in a few more days and the days to come...
NO!!! I will not conform to a DOT helment. I belive that it should be up to the rider, if they choose to wear a DOT helment, novelty, or no helment at all. How are they gonna inforce such a law? By what sticker is on the back of it? I currently wear, and will continue to wear, my carbon fiber novelty helment. If anyone is wondering... I have a DOT sticker on it, (that I purshased and applied) and thats good enough for me. If I'm not mistaken, California has allready ruled that a similar DOThelment law is unconstitunall. I tried wearing a DOT helment, I had more concern for my saftey, as I pulled the helment from the back of my head, chin strap choking the shi*t out of me, back to wear it should have been sitting. So thats my answer. NO!!!
Dude Ride Free. Be safe and I would hate to be the LEO to pull you over lol... Heading out now going to ride for 4 hours, guess we`ll see how it goes today. If anyone is pulled over for non compliance please let us know so everyone can get an ideal what we are up against. Gonna write my Rep. tonight and let them know how I feel about this. Everyone should atleast write a letter stating your feelings and how your freedom is beingunconstitutionally taken away... later
I always wear a DOT, but my bro doesn't. Guess the multiple fines he might have to pay for has persuaded him to go ahead and wear a DOT.Good luck to all of you, and let those who ride decide.
