Nice day here in Georgia today, was gonna meet up with a few buds to ride out to the dealer to look around and pick up one of those free Buell neck thingys. Had about a hour to kill until they were supposed to swing by the house, so I figured I would take a quick scoot and gas up. Was heading East on 316 approaching the intersection of 316 abd SR 11. Noticed an ambulance entering the intersection from the right, so me and the car next to me started to brake as he was crossing. As I came to a stop, heard brakes lockin up so I popped over into the median between the east bound lane and the left turn lane, just in time to see a red mini van slide into the space I just vacated. Me and the woman who was driving the van just made eye contact as another woman in a Ford F150 rearended her. The impact threw glass all over me and pushed her straight ahead about a car length and a half. Ishut offthe scoot and ran over to her to make sure everyone was ok. (come to find out she had two kids in the back seat, they were ok)Checked on the woman in the F150, she was rattled but ok as well. Filled out a report for the cops and I was on my way. Good part of the story, (besides the fact that I didn't get killed) the dealer still had the free neck thingys, we had a good ride, and the steaks are on the grill, and the beer is cold.
Be safe out there, check your mirrors and always have an escape plan.
