Default Polished stock fork sliders

Doing a wideGlide mod with a 21" wheel and while waiting for parts decided to strip and polish the front stock
fork sliders.

Used a spray stripper to remove the clear coat. Sprayed let sit for an hour thenused a green pad to gently remove the Factory clear coat. Wet sanded with 800 grit, then used a Mothers Mini powerball in high speed drill with Mothers PowerMetal, Cleaned, then went over with Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish.
Not a Good as Chrome but Much better then before.

Looks really good
Are you going to put a clear coat over them so you wont have to do it again?

Looks good.

I would not try to clear them. It often turns cloudy and is prone to peel. I polished the forks and most of the aluminum on my Ironhead over 10 years ago. About all I do to maintain the shine it rub it with a little Mother's a time or two a year.

If it were me, I'd clear coat them again.
With all the road garbage out there, you'll be hitting them with the buffer once a month just to keep them looking good. If you have the time on your hands, thats one thing. If you'd rather spend that time in the saddle, it's another.

Thanks for the info, I thought it was just me when I polished a set of rims on my truck and then cleared them, **** they clouded up! Kinda pissed me off after putting all that effort into polishing em.
Think I gonna just wax them and consider it a done deal.

+1 on the spray stripper. How fine did you go on the sanding? The highest grit I can get locally is 1800 wet or dry.
