ok....here's what happened. I'm getting ready to leave a good friends house and as I get on my bike....I stand it up, pulled up the kick stand...and then my friend (standing on his porch) asks me a question and we went into this 10 minute conversation. So I'm just setting on my bike...not started yet.....and I suddenly decide that I want to get something out of my rear bag......guess what I forgot????? Yep....just leaned the bike to the left to dis-mount and the bike just kept going......in that split second when you know what you've just done....tried as I might....it went too far and I had to let her roll over on the crash bar. [:@] My buddy jumps from his porch and helps me stand her back up. Dude!!!you would of thought that one of my kids just broke a leg....I'm laying on the ground (saying a few choice words about my brain capacity) checking every inch and feeling like I an idiot. Well except for the smallest scuff on the crash bar...now polished out....no harm done to her....just me and my pride.
So now the lesson learned.....I will not pull up the kick stand until I'm ready to start the engine....I wont be making that mistake again.
No damage, no problems, just get up and say you were testing to see if the crash bar actually works! Man, that's a sweet looking ride, somehow yours is the first RK I've seen in Lava Red and it looks stunning. Good choice of colors and glad you made out okay.
Glad it turned out OK for you, my buddy in laughlin last weekend forgot to remove his disk lock on the front wheel and started to leave with his wife on the back. They went about six inches and over they went, both of them right next to me, only thing hurt was his pride.
Been there and done that one week after I bought my new RK backing out of my friends driveway about 3 months ago. It gives you a very sick feeling but all that usually happens is a minor scratch on the engine guards where you can't see it.
Glad only your pride was hurt, I dropped mine the day after I brought it home, just over on the crash bar and scuffed the bottom of my saddlebag where you basically have to stand on your head to see.
What sucked though was it was in front of about 5 friends after they kept going on about how nice it was and were taking pictures.
Then like a dumbass I try to turn it around on an upward slope and lay it right over on the crashbar, I felt like crawling under a rock, but at least I had help getting it back up.
So hopefully I got it out of the way early and it won't happen again.
Here is one of the pix they took just before the brain fart!!! And one of it now. LOL!!!!
