I took the scoot to the HD shop an hr ago and they had me sign a release form stating that during the tune if anything vibrates loose of completely off, or breaks they are not liable as they tune for performance and there is alot of vibration while making the dyno runs, is this standard..? they also ask if I wanted it tuned for gas milage or HP, no happy medium so I told them HP & performance figuring when I take a trip I can lean the midrange somewhat for better milage....what do you guys think.
They are doing a CYA. Probably because they've had a problem in the past. My tuner did not have me sign anything. If it's tuned properly you'll get both. Dealers tend to tune rich and add fuel to get performance. So they'll ask that question and justify their poor results. Mine (stock 88, Rinehart 2-1 and SE AC) was tuned in 45 minutes: 75 HP - 80 Torque and I'm getting close to 50 MPG (keeps improving). I have a Mentor Alpha N Fuel Processor which improves the performance and MPG.
I had a real difficult time finding a good tuner and eventually went away from dealers. Glad I did!
I didn't want to get too close during the dyno run which went past factory red line to 6200 RPM. Scared me a bit but all went fine.
Just noticed you have a Power Commander. I think they are overrated. Does not have the range of a SERT. But then most any dealer can properly map a PCIII. Not so with a SERT. Good luck. I hope all goes well!
I sorta figured they were covering there ars' by havin me sign it, they told me they try to get as close to 13.5-1 AFR as possible, do you know what your AFR was after tuning, I may go look at the different posts to compare......I figure I can lean it out a tad for milage when I take trips....will have to talk to dynojet or fuelmoto and ask to see how much though.......
AFR is 14. Lean but I've got the Mentor that will make the appropriate adjustments on the fly. I just rode a 3700 mile solo and got awesome performance and mileage from below sea level to over 10,000 feet.
The blue is the run with those crappy T-Rex pipes. Found out they had an air leak, Look Good but just did not cut it! Replace them with Rinehart's 2-1's.

Talk to Gary at World Thunder. They won't sell it without installing it with a SERT tune. Gary was in on the design and did not like the way they decided to market it. You can get it as "Terminal Velocity" http://www.terrycomp.com/tv.html but don't believe what you read. If you want the performance and MPG I'm getting, talk to Gary!!!!
Geeze how long does it take? According to your post you took the bike in yesterday. What's the hold up. Should have been and in and out thing. If they don't give you a chart of before and after, ask why!
Bob, I took the bike in yesterday as it was schedule for the tune this morning 1st thing, I am now waiting for a phone call from them to come pick it up, I have a meeting scheduled at work for 2:15 this afternoon and was hoping to pick it up before so I could ride it to work, I will ask for the printout though ....I post my question because I am the only person in my area to have a bike dyno'd and therefore I am unsure how good the dealers tuner is , they state they have 2 guys who are great and tune for a 13.5-1 AFR so I guess I willl have to be patient and keep my fingers crossed....most guys I know with HD scoot just do the SE muflers, the SE A/C and the stage 1 download and are happy......
