i looking for a motel in that area this weekend. All i can find on the net is hotels that are all booked or need minumum 2 nite stay.
I'd like a motel near the shore area...any ideas ? Someone must have found a cool place to stay around there.

Never stayed over - just kept going until we hit the border. You could try checking out the Wisconsin side (Superior and east). They got a meteor museum there too.

I stayed in Superior last year at a mom and pop motel on US 2. I can't remember the name but it faced the marina. Nice and clean, but a little ancient, just like I like it.

luv to but i'm coming out from the north (winnipeg)....and i'm with a bunch of others. We're riding along the shore from the north to duluth and then back through central minnesota...probably find some casinos and donate a little money.
I was in your area about a month ago solo on the bike and i'll be around there again. I'll post here when i go and we can hook up for a beer or 3.
