Default six speed Transmissions

Can anyone share their experiences with 6 speeds?

I like Bakers

Direct Drive or Overdrive?

Can someone help me decide?

Bakers is a good transmission. The DD unit requires that you change the gear(sprocket) on the engine in the primary to achieve an RPM change in 6th gear. The OD does not.

I had the Harley 6 speed gear set installed in 2005, in my bike and I have never regretted it.

I run the Harley 6 speed and have absolutely no complaints. I love it.

What's the difference in price between the Baker OD & the HD 6 speed?

I love the 6 speed in my Dyna. I drive 90 freeway miles to my boat and it makes for a nice smooth trip.

DUMBAZZBIKER.com has a 6 speed harley replacement set for around 700.00. How hard is it to remove the guts out of my old 05 FLHRI STD 5 speed and replace with the 6 speed set? Would it be worth it to go to the shop and have it done?

I have HD part # 33102-03A gear set in a 06 SG and love it, no noise. Sixth is .89:1 and really you should be near 70 at a steady speed. I use Spectro synthetic 75w140 gear oil. This is not the same gear set as the standard 07 models use.

I'm also thinking about upgrading my 2006 SG with an HD 6 speed gear set. Does anyone know if the gear ratios are the same as the 2007 original equipment trannies?

I've had a Rev Tech 6 speed trans. in my 98 Softail for almost 9 years. The bike has been Dynoed at 167 mph three different times. I personally never ride over 130. My 07 Ultra has a 6 speed that makes so much noise I'm trying to get the MoCo to take it back. Had a REP stop down and see me today. He said they know they have a problem and they are working on it. He ask me to hold out for a few months?????
