Wrapping Pipes?
I'm thinking about wrapping my pipes in insulating tape.
Anyone done it?
It looks pretty simple to do - I'm thinking about it just for the look but are there any downsides that I should consider (likewise what are the upsides?)
Pics and advice would be much appreciated.

them. Pull it real tight and wearing work gloves also helped. Did mine alone
by tying one end to a pole in my basement and slowly working my way in.
The plus side. I don't have to see my blue pipes anymore.

If you have 2" tape you should try to wrap with 1" overlaps for a good even look. Hardest part is curves. You should increase the overlap on the inside of the curve and try to keep it even at 1" on the outside of the curve. This can be frustrating but go slow and if it starts to get to looking uneven just un-wrap a few turns and re-wrap.
Wear gloves and long sleeves as the fiberglass and impregnated graphite may irritate your skin. I usually take a Claritin or simular non-drowsy allergie medicine before I work with glass which makes me immune to the itchies.
Take your time, and good luck.

I never strap at the beginning, V8 or Vtwin.
Just wrap it good and tight.
Picture below shows technique I use, with gloves and long sleeves.
Pic shows the death grip with both hands, twist tight with left,
and every three or four wraps twist tight again with right, then left.
Really stretch it.

I've always soaked them, whether V8 or V Twin:

Yeah, spray with the appropriate sealant, get mine from ThermoTec, same as the wrap.
And the clamps, I like the T Bar type:
