Default Installation of Oil Temp Gauge (Wally Worlds Version)

Oil Temp Gauge install (Wally Worlds version)

Submitted by: CaptnAl

Remove kit from package,
it was complete to do the install as the directions stated. But I didn’t want to cut my harness so I made an adapter harness.

Remove the outer fairing, 7 screws and unplug head light, set aside.

Removed the fuel gauge to gain easy access to the old gauge and for installation of the new one.
unplug and remove the two nuts slide out the front. Same for old air temp

The trim ring was removed from the old Air Temp gauge and installed on the new gauge using clear RTV

The harness was 3 lengths of wire approximately 5 inches long ( I would make 10 or 12 for ease of installation if I were to do it again) , attached the spade connector from the kit to one wire and the two ring connectors from the kit to the other 2 wires. On the other ends attached male spade connectors to plug into the original harness.

Heat shrink tubing on the ends and one wire was completely covered as you have 2 orange wires to deal with. This way you can tell them apart. Attach the Harness to the Gauge as you would the wires per the instructions.

Installed the gauge in the old position using the hardware form the kit and plug in the wires as per the instructions, the orange wire for the two position connector attached to the spade on the new gauge, the black wire from the from the two position connector goes on the ground and the orange from the 3 position connector to the post marked ignition. This is illustrated very well in the instructions. ( BTW change the bulb to the Harley bulb so that the illumination is the same on all of the gauges)

With the oil drained, install the sensor and run the wire over to the frame. Follow it up in front of the engine and follow the clutch cable into the fairing. Terminate the end with a ring connector and attached it to the gauge. I used small tie wraps to dress every thing up.

Replace fairing cover and look at your finished product.
