Default Gas Gauge Removal?? '07 Street Bob

I got the innards out out of the tank. Is there a way to remove the gas gauge without cutting the 3 wires? I'm taking the tins to the painter and other parts to be powder coated.

On the under side,it has a plug. Unplug it and when you take the tank off, just pop the prongs in and slide the plug housing off. Then carefully pull the wires through the hole.

My prongs don't pop. In or out. So what am I not doing? I did get the catch on the housing to pop, as shown in the picture. The prongs will wriggle with little movement in or out.

use a small stiff wire on the front of the plug to de-pin the plug---pushes wires and pins out!

I ran into the same problem when I painted my Bob. I just cut the wires and soldered them back when I put the bike back together, haven't had any problems.

You need to push back the little tab on the inside of the connector. Grasp the wire from the back and pull on it a little while using a small pin, I am using a finishing nail in the pic, and push the tab away from the terminal. and the terminal will pull out. Make sure you note the position of the terminals so you can put them back in the correct position.

I got it. Those of you that have to do this- in the first picture by cbz1200n, the V in the red arrow is covering the hole that you need to put the nail or stiff wire. I used a finishing nail. It took some force to get the nail far enough in to release the gauge wire.
Thanks cbz for the pics.
