Default stage 1 download

anyone who has had the stage 1 download,? has it made the bike run smoother, not looking for power difference, only want to know if it made the low speed hesitation go away, and how you like the way the bike runs now

mine never hesitated, and the only good thing that will come from the factory download will be the rev extend. The rest ie extra fuel, smoothing, throttle response and cooler temps will all come from a set of xied's from nightrider.com. As long as that's all you want.

I agree with maddghost. The biggest difference I noticed was when I put the SE air cleaner on. There was a noticable difference in throttle response. I rode it for several years with just the download and had no complaints about how the bike ran. This past winter I put on a set of Oieds (mines an 06) and it did smooth out the engine at some rpms so I will leave them on but I have no interest in doing the tuner mod. I don't care about extra power and I read way to many posts about people not ever getting there map right with a tuner.

Contrary to what most everyone says, I did the download, and I'm very happy with the results. My bike runs cooler, stronger, and smoothly. I've been told by countless service techs, and long time mechanics, that anything more than a dealer download for the simple stage one is a waste of $$$$. Most "tuners" bypass the o2 sensors which isn't a good thing to do. I've had other bikes, and I listened to the people on forums like this one, who all said the download is a waste, yadayadayada...so I went with a tuner. NOTHING BUT HEADACHES. My bike ran terrible, cost a lot of $$$$ trying to dyno it, and get it to run right. Never did run good UNTIL................the mechanic took the tuner OFF, did the simple download, and all was well again! The download works very well for me, and for everyone else I know that had the download done.

I've had a micro tuner on mine since day 2, and other than a little decel pop it has run flawlessly. As far as the pop, I called fuel moto, they advised me on a small tweek to the map, and now its damn near perfect. Moral to the story, if you buy the right tuner from the right company then you will have a very good running bike.
