Default Removing Handlebar Grips

Does anyone have a good idea or method for removing handlebar grips that have been glued on? I thougth about injecting Goo Gone but was afraid that it might disolve the rubber grip. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can you get the end cap off, ir is it not that style? If so you could try a feeler gauge and just work it free. When I changed mine I just grabbed it with a firm grip and twisted with everything I had and it broke free.

Easy. Done it a hundred times.

Get a small flat blade screwdriver with a long thin shaft. Carefully work it down between the grip and the bar. Squirt some WD40 in the small gap created by the screwdriver. Pull the screwdriver out and insert it again a little ways from the first spot. More WD40. Repeat several times. The grip will come off undamaged.

Ditto what Trout said. It works like a champ. I'd drape a towel across your gas tank just in case some of the WD-40 squirts back out. You can use simple dishwashing soap to clean up your handlebar afterwards.

Good luck,
Royce

On my bike I just grabbed the grip on the left side and twisted. Just remove the glue with some little sandpaper.

I grabbed the left one w/ both hands and twisted it right off in less than 10 secs. Did the same to my buddys 07 bob as well. Grab-squeeze-twist - done. The used sandpaper to remove the glue. EZ peezy

I just did this on mine and the easy way was acetone. I bought it at lowes for 5 or 6 bucks and and it didnt damage the grips. it dissolves the glue.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I managed to get the grip off without destroying it. I changed handlebars and wanted to put the oldgrips on the new handlebars. Now I can. Thanks again!
