For those riders who frequently find themselves in riding conditions where the vehicle is subjected to prolonged idle conditions or traffic congestion, the motorcycle is a equipped with an (ETIMS) to provide limited cooling of the rear cylinder.

Vechicles delivered from the factory withETIMS disabled ETIMS can be enabled or disabled by the rider by using the folling procedure.

1. TURN THE IGNTION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION ( DO NOT START THE MOTORCYCLE.)

2. PUSH THE THROTTLE TO ROLL-OFF POSITION AND HOLD.

3. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS, THE CRUISE INICATOR LAMP WILL EITHER FLASH GREEN (ETIMS ENABLED) (OR RED ETIMS DISABLED).

4. REPEAT THE PROCEDURE AS NEEDED TO ENABLE OR DISABLE ETIMS.

THIS IS ONLY ON 08's with build date (12-07) (1-01-08)-- until they stop makeing them

This is the same thing that the 07s got from the dealer (FREE DOWNLOAD) to cool the rear cyclinder down.

But now you can turn it on and off when you want to. Not all 08s have this. Only start date of 12-07 until now.

I do not know if all Harleys do this just the baggers that I know of.

I got my 08 RKC in September. I don't think I have this download but am getting pipes/AC/SERT next week. Would this download be overwritten by the SERT or interact in some undesired manner? Thanks.

 

Once you put theSERT on and have it tuned there will be no need for you to have the (ETIMS) work. This is for stock bikes that sit in traffic. It will help cool off the motor. I am just letting people know that 08 models from 12-07 and up have this. Your bike if it was built in September you will not have it. Once you get the SERT installed and tuned your bike bike will run cooler because it will get more fuel and not run lean.

 

I have an '08 CVO Anniversary Ultra and the EITMS only works when I roll the throttle an an idle.
