Info needed... biggest rear tire that will fit a 2003 Road King
I just got myself a new 2014 street glide rear fender and stretch bags. I would like to fill the fender with a wider tire other than my factory 130. I see posts about fitting 150's on, but never clear on what it took exactly. Can someone tell me what they did if they put one on and if there's any problems? I would also be curious to know if I can put a newer swingarm and get a newer rear rim with a 180 underneath it? There seems to be so many discussions about shims/ belt guards/ pulleys and belt size. No forum that I've seen explains exactly what or if they did get something to fit and how.
Thanks!
Thanks!

a 150 mm tire is about as big a tire you can put on a 3" rim, even then the side wall stability is questionable, to put a 180 tire on would involve a revamping of your trans pulley inner primary probably swing arm too...measure the distance from the edge of your 130mm tire to the inside of the belt a 150 will take 10mm from that measurement...heavy bike like that biggest I'd go without some major mods would be a 140mm tire...
I have a 150 on my dyna only because it came on the rim I bought to replace a damaged rim...when it's time for a new tire 140mm will be my choice...sure, I like the look of a meaty tire in there but safety over rules cool...in my book...

Why do you want a bigger tire? The idiots at the butcher shop put on the wrong size tire and it rubbed up against something. Literally almost wore though the side wall. Be careful. I'd say just stick with the tire. Then again I've been known to buy **** that everyone else disagreed with.
