Speedometer is missing, so I am going to buy used from ebay.
Where is odometer memory? Will it show bike miles or replacement speedometer miles?
Does used speedometer need to be programmed to ECM or it is "plug and play"

I think you will find it is in the ECM, however to download it onto your speedo you may need a connector cable. Go to the H-D webaite and the Shop tab, where you can see aftermarket speedos for your bike. Under More Info you can read the installation instructions, which describe what is required. That will apply to either a new or secondhand one IMHO.

 

Bike mileage is stored in the ECM. Not sure how the factory speedos work when going to a different bike, but I do know that the Harley aftermarket speedos marry themselves to the bike after a few miles (30 maybe).

 

Thanks for your answers! Here is what dealer parts guy said:"When we order a speedometer, we specify mileage and they come already programmed with ordered mileage."
Tomorrow morning I will hook up everything and see "new used" odometer mileage, but it will take awhile until I ride it
