Question Analog Speedometer/Tachometer on a Road King

Hi,
I want to install a second hand Speedometer Part Number 70900069 on my FLHRS2004 and I have 2 questions:
- Seller doesn't have data transfer cable, where can I buy it?
- It's second hand. Can I connect a second time the data cable to transfer my milleage from my old speedometer to this one?
- My old speedometer is MPH and this one is KMH. Would it do the conversion when connect the data cable?

I know these ones are difficult questions, so thanks before hands.

Greetings from Spain

the FLHR went to digital speedo drive in about 1995 previous and other models have an analog cable drive from the front wheel hub.

the digital drive sensor is on the top of your tranny held in place with a single allen screw.

the mileage can only be programmed by the HD dealer- as far as I know

conversion kph/mph is not possible

strongly suggest you just look for the correct part for your bike it would just be easier...if you can't find a speedo/tach combo, the tach is easy to add as a stand alone

BTW I was just in Madrid and saw a number of pretty cool kustom bike shops near Makinostra H-D

Thanks Mike.
By law here in Spain motorcycles need to have speedometer in KMH. My bike was imported several years ago from EEUU with it's speedometer in MPH and now it's time to 'regularize' this issue.
70900071A is the part number in KMH
70900070B is the part number in MPH

'Makinostra' and 'Madrid Capital' are both HD dealers in Madrid

Greetings from Spain
The units that gather odometer information from the motorcycle computer use a connector to communicate the first time.
The connector is used to transfer the information to the speedometer.
It is suppose to be a one time thing or locked after something like 25- 30 miles.
Once locked it is suppose to be married to the VIN in the ECM
If you were to get a brand new MPH/KPH unit then the situation might be different.
Older bikes kept the mileage in the speedometer but the newer bikes read from computer.

hmmm, if the speedo works fine as it is, look into changing the backing plate with a KM version-

http://www.speedgaugecustoms.com/

there are others as well

original type speedo in KM- 67204-04

mph- 67096-04

The suggestion of changing the face plate to a MPH/KPH face plate would probably be the easiest alternative.
The odometer would remain in miles.
Maybe have a printer make one for you.
