Has anyone replaced their speedo with a Speedo Tach Combo? I got one off a friend who went back to his stock set up but I need to track down the data transfer cable to "learn" it to my bike. From what I understand these cables come with the speedo new, but apparently it got lost with the rest of his take offs. From my research it's part number 69200176. If someone has one laying around I would appreciate any help. Or if there is another work around for this any help would be great. My bike is an 06 Super Glide and the speedo is the Combo setup part number 70900274. Again, thank you.
There may be another problem beside tracking down the adapter cable. From the HD install sheet:
The replacement speedometer will become locked to the ECM after 31.1 miles (50 km) have been accumulated. The trip B odometer displays the countdown mileage. Once the countdown reaches zero, the speedometer is locked to the ECM. If installed on another vehicle the odometer displays "VIN ERR".
~
You do realize that the speedo/tach combos are married (locked) to the VIN after riding with it for more than 31.1 miles. So, if your friend rode with the speedo/tach combo for more than 31.1 miles and you try to install it on your bike, you will get a "VIN ERR". It is a VIN error meaning you are tying to install it on a bike with the wrong VIN. That speedo/tach will be a paperweight.
You should know this before spending money on a data cable you can't use.
