Default Bike will not go into first gear

Went to go riding today and my bike will not go into first. First time riding since I got back from Sturgis. No shifting issues before except the shift arm coming off where it exits the transmission. It acts like there is no first gear. The shift lever goes down like normal but stays in neutral. Any suggestions?

Wondering if the foot shift lever returns to it's normal position when you (attempt) to click down into 1st. If the foot shifter doesn't spring back, then I'm thinking...The shift arm at the tranny can/will strip.

Comes right back like there was nothing wrong. It will shift to the higher gears just fine.

Double check the arm and make sure it did not come loose again, seen it happen.

Thanks for the suggestions, I found the problem and now feel like a dumbass. When I replaced the lever I used a bolt that was a 1/4" longer than the one that came with the lever. That little bit of bolt sticking out below the lever was contacting something below and not letting the lever move down enough.

Isn't that an amazing feeling? In the same instant that you find the problem you feel stupid because it was self inflicted (especially if you have exposed yourself by posting the problem on a forum) but also feel the rush of relief knowing that there is no repair or cost required? Kudos for manning up and joining the club; we have all experienced that same feeling. You are in good company!
