I didn't like the looks either, but I got over it. For long interstate travel, rain, and cold weather, it's a necessity. I only take it off for local rides in really hot weather. You have to decide if you want form over function.

I put the Windsplitter on mine, and I think it looks great, and it works great also.

I put mine on in the fall of the year I bought it in order to extend my riding season. Now it never comes off.

FWIW have one on my Fat Boy and would not want to be without it. I think the Slim looks fine with one.

Default Quick Detach big selling point.

I live in So Cal, lots of local Mountain rides. I love riding without the 'shield on these local rides and in warm weather.

For Freeway transportation or longer trips, I always fit the 'shield.

I use the 'shield on very cold days as well.

(I ALWAYS put a soft cloth on the headlight when fitting or removing 'shield to easily prevent headlight scratches).

I LOVE that Harley makes the Q/detach system. Does any other bike do this?

So you have some large washers on the fork tins...

I'm considering getting one for my fatboy low, but am concerned about wind buffeting at the head. I wear a fullface helmet. Can anyone speak to this? For info, I'm 5'10"

I only wear a full face. There is some buffeting with a 'shield, on long trips it is worth it for several reasons, including resting my arms.

Plenty of people talking about it on this forum, here are a couple threads.

I too was on the fence about a windshield at first, now it never comes off. Mine is the HD King with the smoked 18" shield.
