Headlight removal???
Sorry for the dumb question -
I want to takemy headlight off to paint it - Do I have to totally remove my tank to disconnect the plug?? Or will I be able to reach the plug if I just lift the tank from the front?? I just want to make sure before I start taking bolts off.
Appreciate any help. Thanks.

RE: Headlight removal???
If you move the tank at all, be damn sure you disconnect the fuel line to the injectors.
Its a simple connector that operates like an air line connection. Just push up on the line and lift the chrome ring, then pull the line down and out.
There is a very limited amount of slack in that lineso if you move the tank back or up more than an inch or so your can easilybreak the line at the injector end connector.
New ones are easy to replace, but they cost about $50. Don't ask how I found that one out.

I believe the line he's talking about is on the left side(fuel gauge). About halfway down your tank. And, it should cut off the fuel when you disconnect it. You might have a bit come out, but it should cut it off. Also, you should buy a service manual if you plan to do a lot of your own work. 50$ on jpcycles.

boone is right it doesn't leak when you disconnect it. He's also right that you should get a service manual, parts manual too.
Pulling the fuel line will spray some gas around if its stillpressurized. An easy way to avoid a bunch squirting all around is to pull off the seat (should be off already), open the fuse box. Pull the fuel pump fuse and then try to start it. It will not run or do more than sputter. But it will make sure the line is depressurized for you. After that you should get no more gas out of it than enough to wet your fingers.
