Looking to put some 1" mini apes on my wife's 883L. She's presently running the stock bars. I plan on using the stock risers if I can. All wiring is external. Is it just a matter of taking off grip assemblies, mirrors, and turn signals then changing out the bars, or will I need new cables and a whole lot of patients?

Plan on changing cables, brake lines.... and extending the wiring... to do it right...

What size are the mini-apes. Your original post says 1 inch but that must be wrong.

We put 8 inch mini apes on my wife's 1200L, it needed new cables and extended wiring.

Looking at the 1" diameter Mini Apes, 10" tall. May go with my Wide Glide stock mini's and risers. I wonder if I could use the stock cables and brake line off of the glide?

 

I put HD mini apes on my Sportster. In the HD parts catalog, it says what cables you "have" to use. That's what I used, and personally, I think they're too long. I'm gonna have a shorter clutch cable put on. I can live with the length of the others. I was told that you can't just match up cables from another bike, because the Sportster uses different cables from the others.
