Default SE Plug wires

I bought a set of SE Plug wires for my 2004 1200 Custom. When I went to install them I noted that they were much thicker and they were going to fit in the wire loom. My question is can I get a larger loom and if so what is the part number ?? Also the stock wires have a "sleeve" that isn't split that goes over the engine, does the SE one need it ??? And lastly, any problems with using these wires ?? As always thanks in advance for your thoughts Be Safe JIM

You shouldn't have any problem using those wires, as people have been throwing those on for years. It all depends on how good of a job you do on routing the wires to say if you really need the protective loom, but just in case, go to any auto parts store to get some new wire loom to cover the new plug wire(s) where they come close to or in contact with the engine. You can take the plug wires with you to show the clerk what size you need & what length you need. Plus it comes in a number of colors, so you can pick what color you like......Or you could take a pair of scissors & cut a straight line down the lentgh of the loom from your old wires & then throw that on the SE wires.

I think the stock cables are 5mm. The SE's were once 8mm, the new Phat Wires are 10mm. I do not think they add much more performance ... not more wire just thicker rubber insulation for a fat look and a $4.00 increase in price.

The sleeve is just for heat protection ... you can use zip ties to secure the plug cable to the wire harness running under the tank. All you need to do is keep the cable from touching the rocker cover to prevent melting.
