Default 16'' or 19'' Roland Sands King Apes

1st post here, be gentle. I have a 2009 Electra Glide Std, and looking to get some apes. I like the look of the RSD King Apes which the grips angle down from the top. Opinions if my hands would actually be at 16'' or sit higher, I'm 5'10'', not looking for hands to be above my shoulders.

Best thing is to sit on some bikes with apes. Preferably the ones you are thinking of, if you can. There's a bit of an "optical illusion" to apes. They look taller than they actually are when the bike is riderless, and if you sit on a bike and have someone take a pic of you you'll see that you can get them higher than you think and still have your hands below your shoulders. Your height, your seat configuration, etc all factor in. If you like a look, then go for it.

I had a set of bars like those on my RG from Todd's cycle -- the angle of the bars put wrist in a extremely uncomfortable position -- I took them off within 30 days -- I agree with the previous posters - apes seem taller than they actually are -- if you are thinking about 14s get 16s etc.

The 16" should be just at, or just above, your shoulders. At 5-10, they should work just fine but all seats sit you a bit different. The 19" would be way high and probably 3-4" above your shoulders. Ron 😎

Thanks everyone!!! I was wondering about the angle of the bars and if they would be uncomfortable on longer rides. Nobody I ride with have bars angled like the King Apes.

16s or 19s?! Those are HUGE! I am 5'10' as well and I have yafee 10s and with my Danny gray seat they are perfect for me where my arms are level. The bike pictured above, my hands would be over my head!

I know, I know, I know.....different size everything, so hard to compare.
I'm 6'3 with as compared to your height...
My seat is different than yours.....
I have an '08, so different frame than yours....
My bars don't drop down at such a sharp angle as what you are looking at....
Here is a pic of me waiting to get the ride under way.....
I have 16" Twin Peaks by LA Chopper for a comparison.
That's my bud's Victory directly on the downhill side of mine....you can still
see the height of the 16" apes.
The angle of those RSD look painful on the wrists....
