Hi, I'm ordering apes for a new Road King. I want them to sit at shoulder height. I am 5'9" tall. I am guessing 14 inch apes. Am I wrong? Any examples would be great. I see a lot of pictures of bikes with apes, but I don't really see pics of guys on their bikes with apes.
Your best bet is getting some pics. One thing I learned when I was getting apes for my bike is not all apes are the same height even though they say they are all 14's, 16's, etc. You'd think it was pretty simple, but apparently different companies use different methods to get their numbers. I know 12" Paul Yaffe bars are very close to as tall as my 14" HCC bars. I researched and looked around for a looong time before I finally ordered mine.
Thank's guys, great pic as well. It look's like I'm going with the 14inch Carlini evil apes. They only come in 10, 14 , and 17. 14's look great on your King, Keith. Have a great weekend.
I am 5' 8". I have 14" Apes and 1.7" riser. I also have a very thick Mustang seat. Just measure it with a ruler.
Nice! Im so waiting to get my solo Mustang with backrest. As for the apes, I need them more for my reach than anything, they need to tilt towards me so i can reach the bars and still have full contact with the rest and arms bent, to many back and neck surgeries for me to ride with the apes as before all that. Hell a set of Tour bars would be cool. BTW lol. Dealer quoted me for a set of mini apes, $785!!!!! LOL WTH. They have to be kidding, bars, 3 cables and 2 signal extenders and 2 hrs labor comes to that? Oh hell no you know im doing my own.
Again, cool scoot. My 88 looked like that.

Don't know if this will help, but these are 18s and I stand right at 6'. My aftermarket seat puts me down 2" and back another 2". If I had the stock seat on there, they would sit right around shoulder height or a tad above. I'm thinkin 14s or 16s for you depending on what seat you'll be rockin with em.
