Default Cruise control light

The red cruise control light on 2008 RKC will not turn off. Cruise works fine, lights turns to green when cruise engaged. Just can't get the red light to go off when not using the cruise. Is the light used for some type of warning other than for the cruise control?

it should turn off when you turn off the cruise switch. I don't mean the switch on the bars, but you should have a switch somewhere on the dash area. On the Ultra, its on the right side next to the Aux switch. Not sure about the location on the RK

At least your cruise is working properly (for how long though?). The red/orange light not turning off when switching the cruise control switch to the off position would drive me nuts! Your bike is still under warranty, I'd take it in and have the dealer fix this problem. Not sure though with the light staying on represents your cruise is not working properly? My owners manuals said if my ABS light stays on my ABS system is not engaged or working. Not your case though it sounds like. It's still not right though staying on.

IIRC, the cruise control "on/off" switch is next to the light on your RK Classic. The light should go dark when the switch is in the "off" position.

If the cruise control continues to function with the switch in the "off" position, the problem is probably in the "on/off" switch.

Thanks for the replys. Actually the cruise switch isn't working properly. Cruise works not matter what position switch is in. Will take in for warranty work.

I can't tell from your posts...on mine the on/off is on the right hand grip and the set/resume/accelerate is on the left. The red light comes on with the right side and the green with the left side.

Mine is just the opposite. Red light turns to green when speed set but will not disengage with on/off switch. Must roll back throttle or use brake to disengage cruise.

The cruise on my 08 RKC went out yesterday. First it wouldn't hold the speed then starting gaining constant speed. The cruise finally wouldn't work at all. The next thing I know I had an engine light come on that would stay on for a while then off for a while. I didn't hear any knocking or other noises that seemed out of place and checked the oil, everything seemed to be okay. I suppose I'll have to take it in for warranty work and miss several days of great riding weather.
