Talking 110 Octane Racing Fuel - What do you buy?

I was on vapors and remembered that I saw a special pump for 110 octane racing fuel at a gas station across town. So, I motor over an pick up about $20 bucks worth to try it out. $5.99 a gallon!

The scoot really liked it.
I usually run premium around 92/93 octane.

Has anyone seen any dyno comparisons based upon fuel octane alone, or tried this stuff?

110 will not help a normal engine with normal compression.....in fact from most of the dyno runs that I have seen it can actually hurt your performance due to the characteristics of it. Most 110 is also leaded fuel so it will play hell with your O2 sensors if you run it very often.

More octane does not mean more horsepower.

most people get the octane thing backwards. higher octane is more stable (harder to ignite) u can get more power from higher octane by increasing compresion and advancing the timing.but if u advance timing or compresion u must run the higher octane all the time or u get predetonation wich will kill a motor.

My ironhead loves aviation fuel; 100ll. Runs fantastic on it. Expensive though. I usually run premium in it and in the Road King too.

Pick a preium brand, Chevron, Texaco, Phillips, Sinclair and then look for the one that does not import oil (SINCLAIR).
Any way stay away from 7-11/Citgo (Venuzeula)and independants (no names). Never know what refinery and/or pipeline their stuff comes from and besides I don't want to support importers if I don't have to.

One of the bikes I built with 11.2:1 cr motor used 105 octane VP fuel. The ignition I used made that a waste. It runs great with 91 and probably would run just fine with lower octane because ignition has knock sensor. You only need enough octane to keep the motor from pinging.

I live in Colorado and pretty much the highest octane you can get here is 91. I prefer Shell gas.
