Street Glide lowering/ride quality?
Guys,
I've sold my '09 SG and I'm going to be getting an '11 scarlet red w/ the power pack option. I'll be going w/ a 21" front wheel and an 17" w/ 200mm rear. Now, my '09 had a 21" front w/ a stock rear. The front end was lowered 1" with a harley kit. I'm about 280 pounds and I gotta tell ya, I thought the ride quality on this bike sucked....... I tried different amounts of air in the rear shocks but it was still so "sharp" over any bump front or rear.
I'm guessing I'll be lowering the front end on the new one too and i'm wondering if there is a better kit or method to help w/ the ride. I realize the 21" wheel is definitely gonna give up some ride quality but my deuce rode beautifully compared to my '09 so I can't believe I can't get it better. What to do?
What is the way to go w/ rear shocks? Ohlins? Progressive? Something else?
Thanks guys!

We weigh about the same and I've already posted just how bad the ride was on my new 2010 FLTRX with the lowered street glide shocks that came stock. My 2007 FLTR with OEM shocks were an inch longer and the ride was much better.
After looking around quite a bit I decided to go with the Ohlins by Motorcycle Metal and they have proven to be fantastic. The ride is awesome, never bottom out and Howard provides great service. You would have to go with his #3-#3 set-up to get the quality ride you're looking for. I sold my take-offs and that helped me with paying for them. It has been the best mod money ever spent.
Good luck with your decision. It took me awhile before deciding to spend that kind of money and once you do you'll never want to sell your bike.
