Default Hard Wire Sirius Stratus 6?

Just got my Sirius Stratus 6 Portable Receiver today along with the Car Mounting Kit. I have the handlebar mount which will allow me to use the Power Supply Cradle from the kit. Sirius sends you one of those "plug it into your cig lighter" power supply cords. Has anyone hard wired their kit and if so what did you use and how did you do it?

I can use the Cig Power Supply but would rather use that outlet for my GPS and hard wire the Sirius.

Thanks,

Check out TSS radio at http://www.tss-radio.com - they have the hard wire power supply for just about every Sirius radio made! I've used them for a number of applications and they are always good to work with...

I have the Stratus "Dock N Play" Radio on my driver side. I use the Docking
Station so I can take the radio to my car, in my garage, or in the house.
I went inside the Fairing, taped into the Cigarette Lighter for the
power. I just soldered wires to the Cigarette adapter provided.

I have the SIRIUS Docking Port installed on my right handlebar.
This makes it easy to change channels without taking my hands away from
the handlebars, even with gloves.

I used the plate (76313-98) from Harley Hand Held CB Microphone kit (76312-98) to mount the
docking station on the handlebars. I then just taped the cigarette lighter inside the fairing for power.
I used the FM Direct adapter to get the sound in the radio. It plugs in the antenna input. This keeps
any local stations on the same frequency from interfering with the signal, but still listen to them.
The SIRIUS antenna is just magnetically mounted on top of the radio inside the fairing.
I have not had any problems with the signal. I made a nylon cover for anytime it rains.
If it starts and I am riding, I can stop and put it over the radio, or just reach up and take it off.
I have been caught in heavy rain before and have not had the SIRIUS damaged from rain.

I love the sound and don't hardly ever listen to Terrestrial Radio.

So with the sirius antenna inside the faring you don't have any problems picking up the satalite signals? Thanks for the tip on wiring the supplied cig adaptor inside the faring. I looked at the tss. site and their hard wire kit.

The Satellite signal I received was great until I put the chrome windshield trim in place.
I found the antenna was under the trim and sometimes would loose signal.
So the next time I had the Fairing apart, I moved the antenna up. Problem solved.
I have no problem with reception.

As for the mount, I can't help it, I'm cheap. I had one of those "Satellite Kits'
on the Ultra my Road Glide replaced. It cost $200+. I had the plate with
the power supply and a plate to put the antenna outside beside the mount.
So when the Ultra was totaled, I lost the mount. When I looked for a replacement,
I could not bring myself to spend the money for something I could build.
I had the CB plate in my junk box and the rest is history.

Now Harley does sell the Satellite Antenna Bracket (Part Number 76456-06 for FLHT models and Part Number 76316-06 for FLTR models).
These mount inside the Fairing. This way you will not be mounting the Satellite antenna on the H/K radio.

If you like the simpler, the better, the powerlet kits have Cig connectors (there are also USB ones) then run to the MC battery: http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/CTGY/power.html
