Variable Speed Sensor (VSS) replacement on 2003 Electra Glide
After reading through some of the tips on this forum, I believe my VSS is faulty as my speedo stopped working, self cancelling signal lights quit and no cruise control. I "believe" I located the VSS, (immediately right of the starter motor on top of the tranny). Is it as simple as removing the one allen bolt and popping it out? Does the wire come with the new assembly or does the wire plug into the plastic VSS? Any assistance would be appreciated and if I haven't located the VSS, please advise as it appears on softtail models, it is behind the starter instead of beside it. Thanks.

Speed Sensor replacement
I did mine and it was a breeze, here is a copy/paste from a service manual...hope it helps.
REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. Remove seat. See Section 2.22 SEAT, REMOVAL.
2. Locate the speed sensor connector [65] in front of the
battery (3-place Deutsch). Push the connector down to
unsnap attachment clip from T-stud on the frame cross
member. Depress external latch and use a rocking
motion to separate pin and socket halves.
3. See Figure 8-109. Locate the sensor mounted below the
starter on the right side of the transmission case.
Remove the bolt to free the sensor from the case.
4. Remove the sensor (with cable and connector) from the
vehicle.

try cleaning the sensor tip with a rag.
it is magnetic and picks up fine steel particles from the transmission
this is a common fault/ fix.
the sensor is on top of the tranny with the single screw, not to be confused with the neutral light switch

if you need the part number, put it in the cart. number shown at check out and you can jot it down
