Default Blown fuses

My 2008 FLHX came with a light show and a blown accessory fuse.

I removed the light show and the 35 feet of wire that came with it.

Since then the bike has blown 3 ignition fuses. All fuses have blown while using the cruise control.

The battery, amps, and alternator are all fine and all electrical things work fine.

It seems obvious to start with the cruise control module but I am asking for any thoughts, help or advice anyone can give me.

Thank you.

You have a chaffed wire somewhere in the equation.
That would be my guess?

I have the same problem with my 08 ultra classic. In fact here is the post I started awhile back.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...me-switch.html

I just recently tried a buddy's right switch housing from his bike to see if the problem was somewhere in the wiring on my bike in the switch housing wiring. We removed the front fairing from both bikes and I plugged his switch housing connector to the connector on my bike and I still have the same problem with the ignition fuse blowing. Not sure where to look next.
Kyle I would be interested to know if you have any idea where exactly the dealer found your short.

Look at the blowed fuse.

IF the material inside has spattered and has carbon inside- then you have a short circuit--- a rubbed through wire somewhere.

if the material looks like it has sagged and parted, then the circuit is overloaded

ensure you have the correct value fuse for the circuit.

a higher rating is not a solution and can allow fire.
fire bad

Do not go to the stealer for fuses...go to o'really or auto zone.

Default Chaffing

Check the wiring harness inside the faring around the radio. There are a couple of low tolerance areas there where the insulation can be worn away. Had a horn wire blowing the cruise, blinker, horn circuit. If start there. Manufacturing defect that takes years to show up.

Buy your self one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000RF...ef=mp_s_a_1_17 it's worth the money, pull the fuse and install it and pull fairing and check wires behind fairing move around and retest this way you can find where your problem is.
