Looks like you almost broke it...

But, it shows you have talent. Grind a larger hex head bolt down next time, instead of using a nut and JB weld.

Here is what we did (I say 'we' cause I didn't weld it) We welded two SS rods on a bolt at the proper distance apart as measured with a micrometer. I took it home, the bolt was too long, went back and cut the head end of the bolt off to keep from having to re-weld the two little ss rods on again. (I got gap right on those and didn't want to mess with it). We set a nut on the bolt and welded it. It was a little crooked but close enough. It worked like a charm.

I first tried bending a coat hanger into a U, but it bent under the torque load before I could break the thermo cover loose......Of course this all would have been easier if I had just removed the oil cooler adapter!........that would have been too easy!
