Default need help with car tire conversion

I have always used bike tires on my bike. I have a buddy wanting to go to a car tire. I have no idea what sizes will work for him. it is a 2002 road king with stock rear tire. I am not sure what the rim width is. The only thing I have found tht might come close to fitting is a 195x 16 that requires a 5 inch width rim. Any ideas

There's a section of the forum dubbed 'The Dark Side'...where folks who believe that car tires on motorcycles is a fine idea...don't see too much discussion in the Touring section. You might have much better results over there...what may evolve here is a discussion of yea vs nay.

It doesn't matter to me what tire anyone runs. I will do my best to help my buddy to find one. Then it's on him.

Thank you

Be aware that it is a subject that raises blood pressures! There are tyres that fit both older and new bikes.

Yeah, just so, Mr. Brown...I think the OP will find more friends and good helpful information over on the other forum...I think this thread on this forum will light a debate instead of yield information for him...well, we'll see, eh?

The 195x60x16 is what I was thinking. Then I found a post comparing different tires for his size of rear tire. It seems many like the dunlop taxi 165x16. No fitment issues as where the 195 some trimming is needed to clear the guard.

the 195/60 will fit the new 5" wide touring wheel, not the old 3" wheel. Don't know what sizes are available for a 16" wheel, but I wouldn't go any wider than a 165.
