Default FXDSE Exhaust & SERT Questions

Just took delivery of my FXDSE before Xmas and now its sitting in the garage under cover waiting for the Montana snow to melt (driving me nuts)! Just talked to my dealer about exhaust systems and they recommended the new Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 1 coming out this spring. They said the build quality and heat shields of the V&H's plus the permium performance made them their number one choice. They said they just put come Bassani Slip-On Mufflers on a SE Ultra and dyno'ed it at 115 lbs tourqe and 95 hp without the HD SE Race Tuner (SERT). However they said the heat shields on the Bassani's were crap and for the FXDSE they'd recommend the V&H's 2-1's. They were sure that the V&H's 2-1's with a SERT would produce superior results. Any boby out there have any thoughts?

Also - what about the HD SERT versus the Vance & Hines Fuel Pak turner. Do they do the same thing or does the SERT allow you more tuning modifications? Naturally, the HD SERT is about $100 more - is it worth it?

Any thoughts and comments appreciated!

Default RE: FXDSE Exhaust & SERT Questions

I was under the impression that Bassani were good pipes... ???

I've also learned not to get any advice from the dealer.

The big radius are nice. I'm trying to talk my wife into getting them for her 1200 Low.

I'd go with a PCIII or SERT. You can do a search and find a ton of posts on these. I just bought a PCIII for my SG and for my CVO RK I have to talk to my tuner if he prefers SERT or PCIII. PCIII is easier for you to tune however some say the SERT allows more tweaking. ???

Also - the PCIII attaches to the harness on your bike. The SERT reprograms the ecu on your bike. The SERT is locked to your bike. So down the road if you get a new bike, you'll have to get a new SERT. The PCIII you can reprogram with your laptop or pc and put it on your new bike.

Those are the only 2 I'd consider. I wouldn't go with the V&H fuelpack.

Also - the dealer cost of a PCIII is $239. Fuelmoto sells them for $249 pre-programmed for your bike plus I think he will add a year warranty to the existing PCIII warranty. Great deal.

I bought my PCIII off from my friend who is a Drag Specialties dealer but for the extra $10 I should of went with fuelmoto.

Tough choices. You may also want to hold off a little longer and see what comes out for pipes. I just emailed Jamie at Fuelmoto yesterday and they still DO NOT have any custom maps for the 110" CVO's yet. So - you'll have to have a tuner dial it in for you (which I'd recommend anyway)

Phew...
