there are choices available.
I'm replacing my peanut tank with a King peanut. Same shape but about 3" wider over all.
2.2 gal to 3.3 gal.
A neighbor replaced the peanut with a "Porkster" tank from www.JPCycles.com it's more rounded than the stock peanut.
It's all in the "look" you want to achieve.

Thought about putting on a "sport bob" tank(most aftermarket catalogues have em)
but then you need to get ape hangers then it starts to look like its not a sportster.
Love my sportster.anyways,try J&P,Dennis Kirk.Fog Hollow etc.
