Hey im looking to put some new pipes on my FLH its completly stripped off all the dresser stuff and was wondering if these upsweep exhaust system will work with my bike? its orginaly for a FX
Generally speaking, FX pipes don't fit on an FLH. The FLH battery box is larger than the FXE. The best place I have found for the upsweeps you pictured is Paughco. www.paughco.com. I picked up my pipes for a reasonable price, and they have a very good selection for shovelheads. Another place to look is Cycle Shack. www.cycle-shack.com. Good luck.
However if it was originally an FLHS it came with a superglide battery and staggered duals instead of the traditional FLH set up(which created problems if you wanted to put on the traditional FL pipes on either side if the bike...wouldn't happen without some serious filing.).
As the poster before me mentioned there are FX like pipes for FL's specifics for sale. If you click on this link and look to the left of the site you will see tabs for diferent exhaust companies. Surely someone will offer what you are looking for:
welcome to the HDForum Blaine,
Just my opinion, the up sweep fish tails don't fit the swing arm as far as an aesthetic view. The lines for the swing arm frame and fender rails are horizontal in the rear and the up sweeps aren't.
The up sweeps look great on a rigid frame following the rear angle of the frame. IMHO
I agree with Rodney as far as looks go. Another factor is they do absolutelynothing for performance. In fact they do the opposite. Get a good set of Vance and Hines (my preference) or 2-1 pipes. Can get some very nostalgic pipes with lots ofsound and increase performance also.
But, it is your bike after all and this is America where you can buy what ever you want!!! If you really like them, go for it.
That was my .02 cents.....
