Not a roadtrip (yet) but I still hope somebody can help me:

Somewhere august/september we will be in New York for a couple of days.
Does anybody a recommendation for a decent hotel, not too far from downtown?

Thanks!
Dries

Marriott Marquis right on the square. Not too small of rooms for NYC either. Been about 10 years, but I didn't think I overpaid.

Marriot Marquis is great-top of the line...great location, walk to everything.  also, look at the Hilton up the street.

If you want location and convenience, then the Mariott Marquis is best. If you want to be economical and just hang your hat, the Madison 88 (at Madison ave & 88th) cost me $88 bucks a night. Not fancy (understatement) and am not sure about parking.

We rode from Houston to New York last summer. . . Every piece of advice we got was not to stay in NYC.....We stayed near the airport in Jersey, left the bikes at the hotel (secured), and took a cab ($20)to the train going into ground zero (can't remember the name "L" or something like that)......Awesome time, got to tour all of NY, not worrying about where to park bikes, etc.....
