Default Paint Saver for Fuel Tank - HELP!!! - Update 1/7/08 Solved

I have a problem with the paint lifting around the gas cap (resprayed tank).
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\;
I'm looking at avoiding a re-spray for the time being and was wondering if a larger circumference gas cap or some sort of paint saver was avaliable that's larger than the actual standard gas cap????
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\;
Any Help Much Appreciated
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\;
Here's the problem:-

UPDATE 1/7/08
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
The Part i had made arrived to day and i've now completed fitting
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
First off i cleaned up any loose paint and then removed the bubbled paint with a stanley knife.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
Sanded any rough edges and applied nail polish to seal the paint.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
2 beads of silicone and mounted the part and now it looks like this:-
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;

&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;

&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
Should hold off a respray until i'm ready

Was the tank resprayed while you owned the bike?

If so, I'd be talking to the paint shop......

I know I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know, but the paint as applied&nbsp\\;has obviously not been impervious to solvents like gasoline.&nbsp\\; I'm afraid the only real solution is a new paint job properly done, with possibly a clear coat over it.
&nbsp\\;
There&nbsp\\;is a chrome&nbsp\\;ring you can attach around the gas-filler&nbsp\\;hole (I've seen them either from Harley or J&amp\\;P - can't remember)&nbsp\\;that's about 1/2" wide and that would help hide the current problem and delay the inevitable, but it will not cure the problem.&nbsp\\; The ring is a self-stick application, much like Harley's emblems for the top of a gas cap.

Have the tank and the fenders powder coated, looks better and lasts longer IMO, aaaand it is cheaper.

Thanks Thumper26&nbsp\\;i took a look at JP's, not sure if that ring will fit my tank.
&nbsp\\;
I found&nbsp\\;a guy that can help me out and he's working on a solution for me.

He makes some very nice pieces for Harleys etc...

If you're looking for a short term fix, remove the paint that has bubbled up and seal the edges with clear fingernail polish.&nbsp\\;
