Default Adjusting the shocks question......

I would like the shocks to be stiffer. less bouce. What way do you turn to adjust? Clockwise or counterclockwise.

For a stiffer suspension or heavy loads the springs needs to be compressed. If I'm not mistaken that means you would be adjusting to the left or clockwise. &nbsp\\;

clockwise is to the right! lol...

firming up the suspension turn clockwise... this means on the exhaust side you turn towards the rear of the bike and the primary side towards the front!

That is correct.. If your standing to the rear of the bike, turn the tool to rotate to your left (clockwise)..

clockwise is considered to the right from the 12 o clock position.... it is then going to the left from the 3 o'clock position to 9 o'clock then back right.... referred as to the right because of the start at 12 o'clock.

well this is fun and confusing for the poster... you go right tighty, lefty loosey on your shocks to increase(tighten) or decrease(soften,or loosen) the preload...

I've got a low rider but its probably close to yours.&nbsp\\; There are 5 settings for the shocks and each one is maybe 10 degrees from the next, ie its just a partial turn to the next higher or lower setting.&nbsp\\; Do yourself a favor, go to sears and get a rubber strap wrench for about $10, it makes turning the shocks easy, and you can't scratch the chrome using this tool.&nbsp\\; It takes me&nbsp\\;30 seconds to adjust both shocks for 2 up riding or back to solo.

you got 5 settings to play with 1 turn your shocks to counterclockwise till you are certain they are both at 1(least amount of preload).. now firm em up by going clockwise at least one more turn than where you started from....(you may be at one already but better to make sure)..

I turn em quite often going from 2up to solo... for me solo is in position 3 and 2up position 4. I weigh about 195 if that helps any.

oh yeah each setting you will feel when you click to it for sure.... about a 1/4 turn to move to each position on the shock.

I use the H-D shock tool for this also only $10.
