Planning my trip from Florida to Niagra Falls in a few weeks. \\; Along the way, I'm making a \\;stop in Raleigh/Durham. \\; From there I will catch the BRP at Rte 421 just North of Blowing Rock....Deep gap. \\; The potential accomodations on the BRP heading North \\;will determine my route to the BRP. \\; If there are no good places to stay, then I will take the interstate from R/D \\;{40 to 421} allowing more time to ride the Blue Ridge, taking our time, stopping, looking etc. and \\;stopping in \\;Roanoke,VA for the night. \\; \\; If there are a few good choices heading North on the BRP in Virginia, then I will run the nack roads out of R/D {64 to 601 to 421} to the BRP. \\; I did a search but did not get a good feel on Hotels heading North. \\; It seems like the more popular places are South of my starting point. \\;
 \\;
Thank you in advance,
Phat...
 \\;
PS: If you have any suggestions on routes ....... I'm all ears.
RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
There is a nice hotel on the Parkway 20 miles north of Roanoke. \\; It is located at Peaks of Otter. \\; The restaurant there is very good - a favorite of us locals.
RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
Thank you for the suggestion VA Ranger!
I checked out their website and it's a go! \\; We're going to stay there for the night. \\; I'm altering \\; my route a little to ensure I have enough time to make it there via the BRP before dark. \\; That's with the stopping and looking along the way. \\;

RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
I had a HUGE problem with deer on the parkway last fall from Boone, NC all the way to Roanoke. \\; Try to be off the road by dusk - or slow down and watch closely for the rascals. \\; Got my windshield folded down on me by Bambi a few miles south of Roanoke. \\; Does are large and plentiful... \\;
RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
Hampton Inn in Lexington, VA was about the nicest place we stayed at last Summer. \\; The town of Lexington is well worth spending a few hours walking and riding around. \\; We liked the southern end of the BRP better, but we will get back up to Lexington for a visit next year and will spend more time than we were able to last year. We were in a group of 7 Harleys and were treated very well.
RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
My recollection is that the biscuits and gravy are spectacular at the Peaks of Otter. \\; Something to keep in mind when on the Parkway is that while there are only a couple of lodging places on the Parkway itself, there are all the usual chains and independents at the cross routes. \\; Also, unless time is really tight, you are going to miss the best part of the BRP which is the first 150 miles or so \\;in the south.
 \\;
We did essentially the same trip in the '90s. \\; Took the BRP all the way, switched to the Skyline Drive at the end. \\; Pick up US340 in Front Royal and take it to US15. \\; US15 winds through some great scenery around Gettysburg and stays pretty scenic and relatively low traffic right up into NY. \\; Once into central NY you can head directly west to Niagara Falls, or do what we did and take the long way around the lake and approach from the north. \\;
RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
Stayed at Peaks of Otter 3 weeks ago , and it is excellent !!!!!
If you are fortunate enough to be there on a sunday night in time for the buffet , go for it. Excellent \\; food , Excellent peaceful sleep. can't wait to go back !
RE: Any recommended Blue Ridge Parkway Hotel in Va??
Thank you for the feedback folks! \\; Great info..
 \\;
I wil definetely \\;be off the BRP by dusk. \\; Depending on how many times we decide to stop will determine if we make it to Roanoke in time or not. \\; Knowing there are hotels along the cross roads removes the worry of finding a place however, I'm going to push to get the Otter spot. \\;
