Default 07 RECALL, ALL 07 OWNERS READ THIS AND POSSIBLE RECAAL THREAD!

I started this over because the "Possible recall thread" is now a confirmed harley recall of many 07 touring as well as other models, Read the Possible recall thread, check your vin. on harleys site to see if your is in it. If your bike was built before nov.1 it WILL BE INCLUDED. Many of us have had it done already and believe me it helps. Here is a repost of my findings.

As I was heading to the dealer today, I almost turned around. I thought my bike runs great, I should pass on this since I have retuned it already why mess with a good thing? But I thought what if it does help? So here it is, for those with PCIII's don't wait head to your nearest dealer for the reflash of the ecm, had mine done this morning, they do it thru a access port and no need to unplug the pcIII, My dealer had no problem with me having upgraded, I simpy told them how it was; I put near 20 k in your pocket for this bike and wanted it to run right, I know its not your fault about the epa, so I fixed it with a pcIII and muffs and a air cleaner. Do we have a problem? No Sir was the answer let us get it in there and do the reflash! They said you may have to readjust your pcIII, I said thats fine. Well the tech did it, then took it for a spin, I could tell by the sound of the motor as he passed me it was running much smoother, as the young guy wheeled back into the parking lot after a 5min. ride he had a huge grin on. I asked did it run good? He smiled and said, Oh Yea! I left, heres my view: Runs much smoother, it always felt a little rough starting off till you got to about 2000 rpm, now it pulled off like butter, pulled hard thru the gears, had more roll on power in all gears. At idle the motor doesn't shake near as much as it did. I could find nothing adverse about it, it worked with my fuelmoto tuned pc III perfectly, I only rode about 30 miles but in traffic, around town and on the interstate up to 100 and it was awesome. Im very pleased with this upgrade and recomend everyone who is due this reflash do it regardless if your bike is stock or retuned with a pcIII or other device, it appears to be more of revamp to the timing settings than air/fuel changes. It made my bike much more of a joy to ride, will update again once ive done some more miles and checked plugs for color.

Very interesting. I have pretty much the same mods on my Ultra. Started with a
map from Fuelmoto then had a custom map made.
Contacted my dealer and he said it wouldn't be necessary to download the new map.
He said if I did I would probably have to remap my PC111.
Sounds like yours worked well tho.

I would do it, it will make a differance as mostly this adjusts timing curve and the pcIII mostly sets the air/fuel, it might not make as big a differance with yours if the dyno tuner reset your timing values but most times they dont mess with timing much leting the ecm do that, why not ask your tuner what he thinks?

He did change the timing but only in the zero throttle position to correct decel
popping.
Good idea on checking with my tuner.

Since this is a factory recall if you blow it off now and there's an catastrophic engine failure later that could be attributed to "not" having done the recalibration (pinging = detonation = engine damage), what do you suppose the MoCo's position would be? Since the MoCo is actually trying to make good on a noted issue with early 07 builds it seem like it would be foolish to ignore the recall just because you don't want to remap your PCIII. I've been waiting for my RH True-Duals and SE Stage 1 A/C and SERT setup to get done - now that makes me wonder if I need to respond to the recall since the SERT reprograms the ECM anyway.... anyone?

What about all the people who do not belong to a HD forum? How long is it going to take to notify them? I ask just because there was a reference to 2000 miles in another thread. Hell I have 4,000 on my bike. It appears this needs to be done ASAP but I would have never known about this if I was not a member here.

My dealer says the calibrations wont be sent til around dec 15th. I asked how the people on this forum had it done already and he said that if they download it on the digital tech the dealer has to pay for it and try to get reimbursed. anyone else heard of this? mike

This was NOT a timing change, he just added in FUEL at the zero throttle setting.

Your dealer is full of dooty! This is an offical recall the download is free to all dealer and moco is paying them .02 hours labor to do it. Find another dealer cause this guy is just pushing you off. I called my dealer who had already heard about the recall from another forum member and told me the deal, the reason most dealers were in the dark is they are not notified by on line info but buy printed matter in the mail. He also told me moco was all for helping customers asap and had the download already waiting for them on HD.NET for them to do as many as possible even before the printed recall notice could be mailed out to 07 owners.
