Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) and Wyotech are a couple of the schools out there for studying motorcycle mechanics, but there are many more. Most indys will stay current with the subject matter at hand, and the good ones will be honest with you if they don’t feel comfortable working on something they know nothing about. Again, this is where the word of mouth/reputation aspect comes into play.

Never be afraid to quiz a mechanic on what he does know. If they are afraid to discuss it, they usually have something to hide.
