Man Takes Harley for Test Drive; Doesn’t Stop Until Texas

I’m new to the motorcycle scene, but one thing has become obvious. When you need to go for a long ride, there is nothing in the world that will stop you or satisfy you. I’m just going to assume that is what happened with Daniel J. Harmon, a man who is accused of stealing a new Harley-Davidson in New York State and riding all the way back down south to Texas.

The story, as told by the Assistant District Attorney, is that Harmon took the bike for a test drive, and just never returned. It was nearly 60 days later when he was picked up in Texas. He is currently in custody with bail set at $20,000, and he has chosen to act as his own council in court with a plea of not guilty.

As stupid as all this sounds, I have this nagging urge that if the Judge is a Harley owner, he might let some of this slide. I’m sure he knows about that never-ending tug at your soul to get back out on the road.
