One dealer gave back to their community in a big way, supplying their local police with brand new Harley-Davidsons.

Anyone who has spent time at a Harley-Davidson dealership knows that they’re not just a big corporate store. Each dealership has its own distinct style and flavor, heavily influenced by the families running the business day in, day out.

As a result, it’s not uncommon for dealerships to get involved in the community, especially when it comes to charity events. However, one dealership in Maryland went far above and beyond what we’ve come to expect.

For the last two years, Chesapeake Harley-Davidson in Darlington, Maryland has been run by the father and son team of Pete and Ramsey Eisenhauer. According to the Baltimore Sun, they recently gave back to their community in a big way.

When the Bel Air Police Department approached the dealership about purchasing a new police bike to replace an aging model, the Eisenhauers suggested an alternate solution. They offered to donate the bike to the police department, free and clear, as a way to give back to the community they love so much.

Pete Eisenhauer stated that “We really like the area, we really like the dealership, the community. It’s a great location, a great area with a large population of motorcycles.”

Eisenhauer also added that “We’re proud of the police department and the job they do. It’s a great way to support them, and we like to see them on Harley-Davidsons.”

The Eisenhauers didn’t stop at donating just one bike, however. In total, they donated four brand new police motorcycles. One went to the Bel Air Police Department, while the other three went to the Hartford County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, October 21, the Eisenhauers, along with Brad Lankford, their comptroller, were honored at a Bel Air town hall meeting. As a special gift, the town presented them with special polo shirts for all of the dealership’s employees, that include not only the dealer logo, but the Bel Air Police Department’s “flying wheel” logo as well.

If you find yourself in the area, it might be worth a visit to the dealership. Just watch your speed – you never know when those new police Harleys may be on patrol!
