Harley-Davidson’s are not generally known for their performance prowess when compared to any number of other motorcycles. Ground clearance on most Harleys leave little to be desired when leaning over and often result in scraped up pegs or floorboards. Also, long wheelbases are not exactly an ingredient for turning on a dime. Harleys often serve one purpose and that is long distance touring a cruising.

Head up to Mulholland Drive (a.k.a The Snake) on any given day and you’ll find a slew of sport bike riders running the canyon from the lookout the the Rock Store. You’ll also find this guy who didn’t seem to get the memo that Harleys are not canyon carving machines. This rider, shows us it’s not what you ride but how you ride that matters. If you are going to run the canyon, do what the sport bike riders do and lean off the bike as much as possible to preserve ground clearance, pick a good line and turn until something drags. Whether it’s a knee or your pegs.

As this rider descends on this iconic Southern Californian road he does exactly that, he pushes himself and his bike to the absolute brink. He squeezes out almost all the available traction his tires can handle and at one point almost looses control and high-sides but manages to keep the bike on it’s path.

Reaching speeds up to 75 mph, this rider maintains control and poise coming within inches of solid rock slopes that line the highway and never crosses over the double yellow into oncoming traffic. As for his choice of attire? Well it doesn’t necessarily promote safety but then again a full race suit on a hog would look ridiculous. This rider sticks to his dickies, vans, and t-shirt. At least he is wearing a full face helmet.

Our favorite point comes at the end when the Harley rider and sport bike rider bump fists. It’s all for the love of riding regardless of what bike you bring to the table.
