Was looking at HD website to see a price for the sportster Sundowner seat. There is no listing for it. Checked the dealership and they concur. There is a listing for that seat for 2014 and up. Is there a difference? My bike has the 4.5 gal tank, for reference.
I'm no expert on seats, but I have a feeling that as the ECM / ECU is located in the rear fender on 2007 to 2010 Sportster models, the seat for those years will have a cut-out in the base to accommodate the ECM /ECU.
The seat from a 2014 Sportster won't have a cut-out in it's base as the ECM / ECU is located forward of the battery.
Taking that into account, I'd say that the 2014 seat will not directly fit onto a 2008 Sportster without being modified.

I am guessing that might be the issue. Just started tearing mine down to replace the motor mounts, and saw it on the fender, like the '07 had. My '07 had the sundowner and the ecu was definitely on the fender. They are out there, just have to keep looking, or do the relocation of the ecu.

I wish they were still that cheap. People are asking that much for used ones.
I can do that. I still have a 3/8" dia steel rod I bought years ago just for that purpose. I even threaded one end. Wanted to make an adjustable brake rod. I also have right and left hand dies for the fine thread (I forgot actual pitch number) to allow for a one direction rotation adjustment, without removing either end. I sent a message to the seller, need to see if I get a response.
