UFC Fighter Carla Esparza Is Selling Her Harley

Prize 2015 Harley-Davidson Breakout Won on Ultimate Fighter Is Up for Grabs to Offset Medical Bills

If we’ve learned anything from watching the Rocky movies, it’s that the life of a fighter is not an easy one. The highs are high and the lows are low. But when your opponent knocks you down, it’s important to get back up and keep fighting — even if that opponent is life itself.

American mixed martial artist Carla Esparza is a former UFC champion in the strawweight class, and the inaugural winner at that. She held the title until being knocked out by Joanna Jędrzejczyk in the second round in March 2015.

MMA star Esparza was also the winner of Season 20 of the hit reality show The Ultimate Fighter. For winning the show, she received a brand new 2015 Harley-Davidson Breakout motorcycle. It’s a gorgeous silver and black bike that looks as tough as its owner.

Unfortunately, an injury at UFC 185 led to Esparza taking a year off for expensive shoulder surgery. As a somewhat unfortunate result, the motorcycle is offered for sale. The athlete says she has just enough left in savings for two months and is desperate to get back in the ring again.

“It’s very unfortunate that I am selling this bike,” Esparza reveals on Instagram. “[It’s] not because I want to, but because I HAVE to in order to make ends meet.”

She’s disappointed about selling the bike that she’s grown to love. But when life throws you a curveball — or a left hook — you have to make tough decisions to survive.

The 2015 Breakout sold new for just under $20,000. Esparza, however, is taking the best offer she can get for it. Hopefully her star power will help her get a better sale price than your typical discounted winter motorcycle deals.

Hopefully, it will be enough to keep the bill collectors off her back. Plus, we really hope to see her back in the ring and back on two wheels soon. Carla, if you’re reading this: You may be living Rocky II now, but next comes Rocky III — and Rocky III was awesome!
